First-class Professor Emeritus, Paris-Descartes University
My research focuses on the epistemology and history of the various sub-disciplines that constitute Psychology. After having taught and conducted research in experimental psychology and psycholinguistics, I reconverted to History and Philosophy of Science. I have worked from this perspective on dreams and functionalist conceptions of the mind, and today I am working on psychotherapies of mental illnesses. In parallel to my teaching and research, I have constituted the fonds necessary for any history, and have collected, inventoried, and deposited at the Archives Nationales (public records) the private and public archives of the major French psychologists and of the institutions in which they worked. I have used these fonds, made publicly available, for my research work, always conducted under mixed CNRS-University research units.
