I am a lawyer and a PhD candidate in Sociology at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris, with funding from the French Research Agency for HIV and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS), and Sidaction.

My PhD dissertation is entitled 'Nationalizing healthcare technologies: public-private partnerships, state market and innovation networks in the development of in vitro tests for Aids and viral hepatitis in Brazil’. I discuss initiatives and strategies used by Brazilian biotechnology laboratories to develop and manufacture diagnostic technologies used by the public health system, in particular a nucleic acid test for blood screening and new rapid point-of-care platforms.

I have previously conducted research on needs-driven pharmaceutical innovation models to develop needs-driven health technologies, where I analyzed the FACT/ASMQ Consortium that developed an artesunate-based combination against malaria. I have also conducted research on health privacy and data protection, as well as on the creation of DNA databases for criminal investigation in Brazil.
