Papa Mamadou Diagne is currently doing post-doctoral research at the Anthropology and Ecology of Emerging Diseases Unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. Under the supervision of Tamara Giles-Vernick, he has been working on the project "Evaluation of vulnerability and resilience linked to the pandemic". This project, part of the Sonar-Global network and funded by the European Union, is being carried out in four other countries (Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Malta). It is also looking at the issue of antimicrobial resistance in Africa, particularly in Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of a research partnership involving the Institut Pasteur in Paris and other European and African research teams.
Papa Mamadou Diagne holds a Master's degree in 'Social risks and vulnerabilities' and a PhD thesis in Socio-anthropology from the University of Rouen on the social management of mental illness in Senegal. He has experience of working with vulnerable groups on mental health issues. He carried out post-doctoral research at Cermes3 and the Hospices civils de Lyon.
