Thesis title: A Franco-Romanian therapeutic space: a transnational perspective on reproductive and perinatal health practices
Under the supervision of Jean-Paul Gaudillière and Simeng Wang
In a European context where mobility is on the increase and social and health inequalities are growing, European women are seizing the opportunities offered by this area of free movement. In their migratory journeys, they make as much use of healthcare structures in their country of origin as in their country of residence. In this context, the aim of this thesis is to analyse the ways in which transnational therapeutic trajectories are developed and the issues involved. It examines the way in which the processes of socialisation and re-socialisation in a historically constructed medical system influence the experience and use of these different systems. By looking at the experiences, practices and discourses of patients - Romanian and French - between France and Romania, this thesis will seek to understand the construction of forms of therapeutic knowledge-circulation and the circulation of knowledge.
