Laurent Pordié

Laurent Pordié a débuté ses recherches au Cambodge lors d'un doctorat en sciences pharmaceutiques, poursuivi par des travaux en ethnopharmacologie, avant de se concentrer pleinement à l'anthropologie dans le cadre d'une thèse sur la médecine en Himalaya indien. Il a été directeur du département de sciences sociales de l'Institut Français de Pondichéry (CNRS-MEAE), Research Leader au Pôle d'Excellence de l'université de Heidelberg et a séjourné aux universités de Chicago et de San Francisco/Berkeley. Il est chercheur CNRS et membre statutaire du Cermes3 depuis 2011. Laurent dispense ses enseignements à l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris.

Ses travaux portent sur l'étude des sciences et des médecines en Asie. Il examine particulièrement la dynamique des asymétries globales comme force de changement dans le domaine du soin, à la fois dans le périmètre de la santé transnationale et dans le déplacement des sites d'innovation pharmaceutique et thérapeutique. A ce titre, il a étudié depuis l'Inde, la globalisation des médecines d'Asie, l'industrie du bien-être et l'avènement de la science et de la technologie dans la production en masse des médecines traditionnelles.

Ses recherches actuelles se situent au Cambodge et se concentrent sur les objets pharmaceutiques. Laurent s'intéresse aux modifications de valeur, de sens, d'agentivité et de pouvoir thérapeutique induites par la circulation mondiale des médicaments. Un second ensemble de recherches corrélées porte sur les réseaux de distribution du médicament, la régulation pharmaceutique, la prescription clinique et les pratiques officinales hétérodoxes de diagnostic et d'association médicamenteuse.
